Khazna Data Centers Secures Tier III Design Certification for Region’s First AI Liquid-Cooled Facility

Khazna Data Centers has achieved the Uptime Institute Tier III Certification of Design Documents (TCDD) for its new 100 MW AI-optimised data centre, QAJ01, in Ajman, marking a major milestone for digital infrastructure in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Announced by Uptime Institute, the certification positions the Ajman facility to become the region’s first certified AI data centre featuring advanced liquid cooling technology. The state-of-the-art development will comprise 20 data halls, each delivering 5 MW of IT capacity, purpose-built to meet the demands of next-generation artificial intelligence workloads.

Designed to support high rack densities and the intensive thermal loads associated with large-scale AI training and inference applications, the facility integrates advanced liquid-cooling systems aimed at optimising energy efficiency while maintaining operational resilience. The certification validates that the project’s design aligns with global Tier III standards for reliability and performance.

Abdulmajeed Harmoodi, Chief Technology Officer of Khazna, said achieving Tier III certification reflects the company’s commitment to engineering excellence and resilience as it scales to meet growing AI-driven demand. He noted that QAJ01 sets a new benchmark in the region by combining high-density readiness, advanced cooling solutions and globally certified design standards.

Mustapha Louni, Chief Business Officer at Uptime Institute, described the certification as an important advancement for the regional digital infrastructure ecosystem, highlighting that the facility demonstrates how data centres can evolve to meet accelerating AI compute needs without compromising reliability or efficiency.

Uptime Institute’s TCDD certification represents the first stage in its globally recognised Tier Certification process, confirming that a facility’s design meets Tier Standard for Topology requirements and can achieve targeted resilience outcomes once constructed. Khazna’s UAE portfolio currently includes 30 data centres, with 22 already having secured Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility awards.
