Mashreq has introduced a new digital cross-border banking service allowing UAE-based Pakistani customers to remotely open a Mashreq Pakistan account directly through the Mashreq UAE mobile app.
For the first time in the UAE, non-resident Pakistanis who already hold a Mashreq UAE account can open and manage a bank account in Pakistan without physical paperwork or branch visits. The fully digital process replaces the traditional manual onboarding model, eliminating cross-border friction.
Once activated, customers gain access to a unified global dashboard within the Mashreq UAE app. This enables them to view and manage both UAE and Pakistan account balances in one place, offering greater transparency and control over cross-border finances.
A key feature of the service is the integration of Quick Remit, Mashreq’s zero-fee instant remittance solution available exclusively to its account holders. Customers can transfer funds to Pakistan instantly and without charges.
In addition, newly opened Mashreq Pakistan accounts come with zero minimum balance requirements and include a complimentary domestic PayPak debit card.
Fernando Morillo, Group Head of Retail Banking at Mashreq, said the launch represents a major milestone in digital banking innovation, enabling non-resident Pakistanis to open home-country accounts seamlessly. He noted that the zero-fee Quick Remit service enhances convenience, speed, and value for customers managing finances across borders.
Ghazal AlSakaal, Global Head of Digital Strategic Partnerships at Mashreq, said the service removes traditional banking barriers and reshapes how expatriates engage with financial services between countries.
The initiative strengthens Mashreq’s position in cross-border digital banking and reflects growing demand for integrated financial solutions among expatriate communities in the UAE.
