Moroccan Company Opens MAD 200 Mln Fiber Optic Cable Plant in Berrechid

February 25, 2026

Moroccan company FBR Cables has inaugurated a new fiber optic and network cable manufacturing plant in Berrechid, marking a MAD 200 million (USD 21.7 million) industrial investment aimed at strengthening domestic production capacity.

Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, attended the launch of the facility, which is expected to generate 165 direct jobs. Built on a 15,000-square-meter site, the plant increases FBR Cables’ annual production capacity to 70,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables. This output is projected to meet approximately 60% of Morocco’s estimated annual demand, which ranges between 120,000 and 130,000 kilometers.

Mezzour stated that the fully Moroccan-developed facility reinforces the country’s industrial and digital sovereignty while advancing the government’s “Made in Morocco” strategy. The expansion also positions Morocco as a potential export hub serving African markets.

FBR Cables CEO Youssef Jennat highlighted that the plant leverages advanced technologies and local expertise. The company currently exports to several African countries, including Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Gabon, as part of its South-South growth strategy.

Established in 1991 in Bouskoura, FBR Cables supplies leading Moroccan telecom operators such as Orange Morocco, Inwi, and Maroc Telecom. Beyond direct employment, the company supports more than 500 indirect jobs through its partner network.
