Telekom Malaysia Switches 5G Wholesale Partner from DNB to U Mobile

Telekom Malaysia (TM) has announced it will move its 5G wholesale partnership from Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) to rival provider U Mobile under a new three-year agreement.

Under the deal, U Mobile will deliver end-to-end 5G multi-operator core network (MOCN) services to TM, including provisioning, system integration, activation, testing and ongoing optimisation. TM confirmed it has exercised its contractual rights to terminate its existing wholesale access arrangement with DNB, subject to regulatory approvals and processes.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, TM said mobile services are central to its convergence strategy, which integrates fixed, mobile, content and smart services across consumer, SME and enterprise segments. The company added that Malaysia’s dual 5G network framework allows it to reassess options to enhance long-term competitiveness.

U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck said the agreement validates the country’s dual-wholesale 5G model and expressed confidence in delivering strong performance, reliability and security to support TM’s mobile ambitions.

TM is currently the only Malaysian telecom operator without an ownership stake in DNB, apart from U Mobile, which exited DNB in May 2025 after being selected as Malaysia’s second 5G wholesale provider in late 2024. TM also provides fibre backhaul for U Mobile’s 5G network under a separate ten-year agreement.
