Pakistan to offer 600 MHz spectrum in record-breaking 5G auction

Pakistan will conduct its largest-ever telecom spectrum auction, offering 600 MHz of spectrum, far exceeding the 69 MHz sold in the past 12 years. The auction, announced by Hafeez-ur-Rehman, requires each telecom operator to purchase at least 100 MHz to ensure meaningful network deployment.

The auction will support 5G rollout in Islamabad and provincial capitals, followed by nationwide expansion, while also improving 4G performance with speeds up to 20 Mbps. Lawmakers highlighted the economic and social benefits of advanced connectivity, emphasizing the importance of extending these gains to ordinary consumers.

This initiative marks a milestone in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, enabling enhanced network capacity, faster mobile internet, and broader access to advanced telecom services.
