Egypt’s Mobile Operators to Offer Free International Calls to Six Arab Countries

National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has directed mobile operators in Egypt to provide subscribers with five free international minutes to contact relatives in six Arab countries amid ongoing regional tensions.

The complimentary minutes can be used to call Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. The move is aimed at helping Egyptian citizens stay in touch with family members abroad during the current period of heightened uncertainty.

The telecom regulator said it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with operators to ensure that subscribers continue to receive reliable and secure telecommunications services.

Separately, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated a dedicated WhatsApp hotline (+201222285800) to respond to inquiries from Egyptian nationals in countries affected by the escalating military confrontation. The hotline enables direct communication with consular officials regarding safety and well-being.
