The Morobe Provincial Government has announced a landmark partnership with PNG DataCo and Oracle to transition into an AI-enabled digital administration. This initiative, titled the “Morobe Digital Government Project – MMU,” aims to establish a cloud-based ecosystem to enhance transparency and efficiency, positioning Morobe as a regional leader in digital governance within the Pacific. The project will consolidate financial management, procurement, and citizen services into a single online portal powered by Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.
Key features of the transformation include a real-time AI dashboard for public budget monitoring, a fully digital procurement system for online tenders, and an AI-driven scholarship vetting process. Additionally, the government is exploring a blockchain-based land registry to modernize title management and an integrated digital ID system. While core services like the AI budget dashboard and business registration are expected within the first year, advanced features such as the blockchain registry will undergo further technical and legal reviews before a full rollout.
