Vodafone Egypt offers free international calls to six Arab nations amid regional unrest

Vodafone Egypt has announced a temporary initiative to provide free international calling minutes to several Arab countries as tensions escalate across parts of the Middle East.

The telecom operator confirmed that subscribers will receive free international minutes for a period of three days, enabling customers to contact family and friends in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

According to the company, the initiative is intended to help customers remain connected with loved ones during a period of heightened regional uncertainty.

“Our priority is to ensure our customers can stay connected and check on the safety of their loved ones during these challenging regional events,” Vodafone Egypt said in an official statement.

The move follows a directive issued by Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), which instructed all mobile operators in the country to provide a minimum of five free international minutes per subscriber for calls to the same six countries.

The regulator stated that the decision forms part of an emergency regulatory framework designed to support communication during critical regional developments.

The NTRA added that it remains in close coordination with telecom operators to monitor the evolving situation and implement additional support measures if required.
