Basata Democratizes Cash Access: 120,000 POS Points Now Open to All Egyptian Mobile Wallets

In a major move for Egypt’s financial landscape, fintech leader Basata Holding has officially opened its massive network of 120,000 point-of-sale (POS) terminals to all mobile wallet users. Previously restricted largely to Vodafone Cash, the platform now allows any of Egypt’s 40 million active mobile wallet holders to perform “cash-in” and “cash-out” transactions at local merchant locations nationwide.

This expansion effectively turns neighborhood retailers into mini-bank branches, allowing users to deposit or withdraw funds without hunting for specific ATMs or official service centers. Since its 2022 pivot—fueled by a strategic 10% stake from Vodafone Egypt—Basata has rapidly scaled its ecosystem to include over 3,200 services, ranging from utility and education payments to BNPL installments. By bridging the gap between digital balances and physical cash, Basata is positioning itself as a cornerstone of Egypt’s drive toward total financial inclusion.
