Orange Morocco and ZTE Launch Ground breaking Livebox 7 Router

Orange Morocco and ZTE Corporation have introduced the Livebox 7, making Morocco the exclusive global launch market for the world’s first commercially deployed router built on the prplOS 4.0 open-source standard. The announcement was made in Casablanca and further highlighted during Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

The Livebox 7 represents a major shift in home networking technology. Unlike traditional routers that operate with closed firmware environments, the device runs on prplOS 4.0, enabling an open ecosystem where third-party developers can integrate applications directly into the router. This approach allows services such as cybersecurity, parental controls, and other digital tools to be added without requiring full firmware updates. One of the first integrations includes a cybersecurity solution from Bitdefender.

From a hardware perspective, the router incorporates advanced tri-band Wi-Fi 7 technology and ten smart antennas designed to provide stronger coverage and higher network performance throughout the home. The device also features a distinctive exterior design inspired by Morocco’s traditional Zellige tile patterns, blending modern connectivity with cultural design elements.

The launch positions Morocco at the forefront of next-generation home connectivity innovation while demonstrating the growing shift toward open, service-driven broadband platforms.
