Pakistan is set to officially launch 5G services around Eid al-Fitr, following the completion of licensing preparations by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Licenses will be formally issued to telecom operators, enabling immediate rollout of next-generation mobile networks.
The launch will begin in Islamabad and major cities, with initial coverage in select urban areas before expanding nationwide. Under license requirements, operators must deploy at least 1,000 new telecom sites, including coverage in underserved regions.
The recent 5G spectrum auction generated around $510 million, marking a major step in Pakistan’s digital transformation and next-generation connectivity roadmap.
