Ethio Telecom is exploring a partnership with Italy’s Ascot Energy to integrate green energy technologies into its national telecom infrastructure.
The discussions focus on building a climate-resilient power backbone to support 4G, 5G, and data centre operations, particularly in remote and underserved regions. Proposed solutions include hybrid energy systems and IoT-enabled monitoring tools to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance network reliability.
Both parties plan to form a joint technical team to assess implementation and explore sustainable financing models, building on Ethio Telecom’s existing solar-powered site initiatives.
