Starlink has officially launched satellite internet services in the UAE, extending low-Earth-orbit connectivity to consumers, enterprises, and maritime operators.
The service enables users to access high-speed internet directly via satellite without relying on traditional telecom infrastructure, making it particularly valuable for remote locations and offshore operations. Maritime connectivity is a key focus, supported by local partners like Elcome, which has established a network operations centre in Dubai.
While positioned as a complementary solution rather than a replacement for fibre or mobile networks, Starlink is expected to strengthen connectivity resilience and serve niche use cases such as backup networks and hard-to-reach areas.
