Nepal Telecom (NTC) took significant steps to improve internet services at the Gadhimai fair, which took place in Gadhimai Municipality – 1, Bara district, from December 02 to 15. The company installed 21 small cell Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and upgraded existing BTS infrastructure to meet the high demand for mobile data services during the event.
The Gadhimai fair, a major event held every five years, attracts large crowds that often overwhelm existing telecom infrastructure. To address this challenge, NTC enhanced its network by adding small cells, which provide additional connectivity when traditional infrastructure struggles to maintain coverage. Additionally, mobile BTS were set up to ensure that attendees received optimal service.
Small cells are vital for providing extra connectivity in crowded areas where conventional infrastructure can’t meet the demand. NTC’s upgrades ensured high-speed 4G broadband and reliable voice services, allowing fair attendees to stay connected throughout the event.
NTC had prepared for the increased demand well before the fair started, ensuring that mobile data services were efficient across the 14-day event. By implementing these measures, NTC demonstrated its commitment to providing seamless connectivity during such high-traffic events.
In addition to the Gadhimai fair, NTC also provided high-speed Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and 4G services at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur for organizers and spectators. As a state-backed enterprise, NTC continues to enhance its services to meet the evolving needs of its users.
