stc Bahrain Transfers Fiber Assets to BNET in Landmark Agreement

Bahrain Network (BNET), the national company responsible for fiber-based broadband networks, and stc Bahrain, a digital enabler, have signed a significant asset transfer agreement. Under this deal, stc Bahrain will transfer its fiber assets to BNET, in alignment with the Fifth National Telecommunications Plan (NTP5), with the goal of achieving a unified network under BNET. This move is aimed at fostering sustainable and competitive growth within Bahrain’s telecommunications and ICT sectors.

BNET has collaborated with licensed operators and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to ensure equal access for all operators to the fixed infrastructure by introducing wholesale access products such as the NRU and MDS-U.

Ahmed Jaber Alhogbani Aldoseri, CEO of BNET, expressed that the transfer marks a pivotal step in the local telecommunications sector, enhancing competition and benefiting consumers. He emphasized that the deal would support the objectives of NTP5 and contribute to realizing the government’s vision of making Bahrain a leader in regional telecommunications and technological innovation.

Eng. Khalid Al Osaimi, CEO of stc Bahrain, highlighted that this agreement would play a crucial role in Bahrain’s digital economy and Vision 2030. He confirmed that the fiber asset transfer, approved by the TRA, would ensure continued high-quality services for stc Bahrain’s customers, contributing to the broader goal of a unified fiber broadband network and empowering Bahrain’s digital future.
