Oman Broadband Company and ST Engineering’s Urban Solutions business have signed a landmark cooperation agreement to drive the development of smart city initiatives in Oman. This collaboration supports Oman’s digital transformation goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040 and focuses on creating a digital infrastructure to meet future needs, enhance the quality of life for residents, and promote sustainability.
The partnership will see Oman Broadband providing advanced fibre-optic infrastructure to facilitate digital transformation, while ST Engineering Urban Solutions will bring its expertise in smart mobility, smart utilities, and smart city operations platforms. Together, they will develop integrated smart city solutions designed to improve urban efficiencies and advance sustainability.
Through this collaboration, Oman Broadband aims to strengthen its position as a leader in telecommunications and digital infrastructure, paving the way for a technologically advanced and sustainable future in Oman. The initiative is part of the country’s efforts to position itself as a regional technology and knowledge hub.
Eng. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Broadband, expressed that this cooperation is a significant step towards developing the Sultanate’s digital infrastructure. He noted that the programme aims to accelerate digital transformation by sharing knowledge and technology, contributing to advancements in smart cities and innovative technical solutions.
