Wajeez Expands Operations to Algiers and Sets Sights on Pan-African Growth

Logistics startup Wajeez, which has seen significant growth in smaller cities across eastern Algeria, has successfully expanded its operations to the capital, Algiers. The company now plans to extend its reach across the African continent, targeting expansion into other countries.

Founded in 2018 by Mohamed Salah Tourab under the name FoodBeeper, Wajeez is a digital platform that simplifies the delivery of meals and fresh produce. Since its inception, the startup has broadened its offerings to include a wide range of items and personalized shopping experiences.

The Wajeez mobile app, available on both iOS and Android, has been downloaded over 100,000 times, according to data from the Google Play Store. Upon creating an account, users can easily search for specific items or partner stores using the app’s search bar. Once they find their desired products, they can add them to the cart, complete the checkout process, and receive their deliveries.

Wajeez offers a feature that grants users access to the full catalog of partner stores, enhancing the shopping experience. Additionally, the platform includes a loyalty program that offers rewards, discounts, and premium services.

The Wajeez Gold subscription service provides exclusive benefits such as 5% cashback on all food orders, double loyalty points for faster rewards, and access to the Courier service. The Courier service allows users to send, receive, and purchase items within their city without any hassle.

Currently operational in 13 cities across Algeria, Wajeez expanded to Dakar, Senegal in 2023, marking a significant milestone in its African expansion strategy.
