Mobily Invests $905 Million to Strengthen Saudi Arabia’s Digital Infrastructure

Mobily, also known as Etihad Etisalat, has announced a significant $905 million (over SAR 3.4 billion) investment in data centres and submarine cables to support Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation. The announcement was made during the fourth edition of LEAP 2025, a global technology event in Riyadh.

The investment focuses on enhancing the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure, including new submarine cables like the Africa 1, linking Saudi Arabia to Africa and Europe, and SMW6, connecting the Kingdom to Asia and Europe. Mobily has also committed over SAR 2 billion in data centre development, with plans to build facilities supporting a total capacity of 39 MW. These initiatives aim to cater to the rising demand for AI, GPU, and other advanced applications.

Eng. Salman Al-Badran, CEO of Mobily, emphasized that these strategic investments will support both public and private sectors, enabling digital services, smart automation, and advanced data analytics. Mobily’s efforts reinforce Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors, driving sustainable growth and contributing to the Kingdom’s digital economy.
