Egypt’s Minister of Communications Holds Key Meetings with Global Tech Leaders at MWC 2025

Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with several global leaders, including Mr. Li Zixu, President and CEO of ZTE Corporation, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. The discussions focused on enhancing joint cooperation in digital infrastructure, capacity building, and local manufacturing initiatives.

The meeting addressed ZTE’s progress in establishing two training labs at Egypt’s National Telecommunications Institute, as well as the company’s plans to commence local manufacturing of several products in Egypt. ZTE also shared its efforts to improve telecommunications infrastructure, increase business volume in Egypt, and create job opportunities for Egyptian youth through training programs in ZTE technologies. The company plans to establish a research and development center in Egypt to support its African projects.

In addition to the ZTE meeting, Dr. Talaat engaged with Mr. Robert Abberj, CEO of Sigma Technology, to discuss the company’s future expansion in Egypt. The meeting highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages in outsourcing and the country’s digital strategy to support the development of the outsourcing industry.

Dr. Talaat also met with Mr. Helmut Reisinger, CEO of Palo Alto Networks for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The discussion centered on joint cooperation in cybersecurity and the potential to expand Palo Alto Networks’ operations in Egypt by leveraging local talent to provide digital services to clients in North Africa.

The meetings, attended by key figures from Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and other government bodies, were pivotal in strengthening Egypt’s position as a hub for digital transformation and innovation in the region.
