Huawei Technologies is deepening its involvement in Qatar by expanding from telecommunications to the country’s growing AI sector. During Web Summit Qatar, Zhu Shenggao, Huawei Cloud’s Vice President of AI for Middle East and Central Asia, outlined the company’s plans to support Qatar’s Vision 2030 through AI integration, cloud infrastructure, and smart city applications.

Huawei has gained significant recognition in Qatar, especially after deploying 5G technology during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Building on that success, the company aims to leverage its AI capabilities to provide solutions such as the Pangu model and AI-powered applications for various sectors, including government, communications, and media.

In addition to its AI efforts, Huawei has formed a partnership with Starlink WLL, becoming the distributor of Huawei Cloud services in Qatar. This collaboration will allow Huawei to expand its cloud offerings through a strong reseller network, contributing to Qatar’s digital transformation efforts aligned with Vision 2030.

With the goal of integrating more Arabic dialects into AI models and providing solutions for different industries, Huawei aims to make a significant impact on the development of Qatar’s AI ecosystem.
