Visa Launches Tap-to-Add Card in Egypt to Enhance Digital Wallet Adoption

Visa has introduced the Tap-to-Add Card feature in Egypt, designed to simplify the process of adding Visa contactless cards to digital wallets. This innovation offers a secure, faster, and more convenient way for customers to make digital payments, promoting the adoption of digital wallets in the country.

Visa, a global leader in digital payments, processes over 215 billion transactions annually across more than 200 countries. The Tap-to-Add Card feature eliminates the need for manual card entry, which is often prone to errors and a target for fraudsters. By tapping their mobile device, cardholders can securely add their Visa cards to digital wallets, with a unique one-time code generated and validated through Visa’s Chip Authenticate service. This ensures the safe provisioning of card credentials and provides an improved alternative to traditional methods.

The feature enhances security by reducing fraud risks and improves user convenience, providing a similar experience to in-store card transactions. For issuers, it helps lower the costs and risks associated with fraud provisioning, reduces customer service inquiries, and boosts transaction approval rates.

Tap-to-Add Card supports digital wallets globally, adhering to Visa’s security standards, and minimizing the risk of card breaches. The feature has already proven effective in simplifying the card addition process and is part of Visa’s broader strategy to support Egypt’s goal of becoming a cashless, technology-driven society. By offering an easier and more secure payment process, Visa aims to enhance the digital payment experience for both consumers and businesses in Egypt.
