Moroccan AI startup ToumAI has secured USD 1 million in pre-seed funding to expand its AI-driven customer experience (CX) solutions, which are tailored to African languages and cultural nuances. The funding round was led by Launch Africa Ventures, with participation from Madica by Flourish Ventures, Orange Ventures, Digital Africa, GO Ventures, and business angel Bruno Akpaka, alongside support from Bpifrance.
Founded in 2020 as a spin-off of AIOX Labs, ToumAI focuses on overcoming language barriers and cultural complexities in customer interactions. Its flagship product, HolistiCX, personalizes business interactions by considering factors like generational preferences, emotional profiles, and communication styles. The AI technology enhances local language voice commands, IVR systems, and churn detection, enabling businesses to better connect with diverse communities.
ToumAI’s multilingual AI understands thousands of dialects, addressing a major challenge in Africa where oral communication is often more prevalent due to high illiteracy rates. Co-founder Youcef Rahmani stressed the startup’s mission to integrate African languages into digital transformation, enabling businesses to tap into valuable insights from previously underserved communities.
With operations in Morocco, Senegal, and Malta, and plans to expand into Tunisia, ToumAI is already partnering with organizations like AIOX Labs, OrangeFab, and Inwi Innov. Key sectors such as banking, telecom, and infrastructure are leveraging ToumAI’s AI to improve customer satisfaction and data collection.
The newly acquired funding will support the development of the HolistiCX suite, expansion into new markets, and team growth. As the competition in AI-driven CX intensifies, ToumAI’s commitment to inclusivity and cultural adaptability positions it as a leader in ethical AI solutions for Africa’s diverse linguistic landscape.
