The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has been awarded the “Smart City Initiative Award 2025” at the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit for its MyGov mobile application. The award was presented during the opening ceremony of the 8th edition of the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit, held under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, from April 15-16. This year’s theme was “Building the Future: Smart Cities, Sustainable Growth.”

Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA, expressed his pride in the recognition and thanked the event organizers for the honor. He emphasized that the achievement reflects the strong support and attention given by the Government of Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, towards digital transformation and technological adoption. These efforts have significantly advanced innovation and creativity within government operations.

Al Qaed further noted that MyGov, launched in the first quarter of 2025 under the direction of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is one of the most prominent digital initiatives resulting from public suggestions. The application provides users with a unified access point to a wide range of government services through the upgraded eKey 2.0 system. He also acknowledged the support of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology.

He added that receiving this award would further motivate the iGA team to continue their dedication to delivering high-quality services.

In addition to the award presentation, Lulwa Sami, Director of Communications & Marketing at iGA, participated in a panel discussion titled “Smart City Hot Seat: Live Expert Panel on Urban Innovation.” During the session, Sami showcased the Authority’s digital projects that have contributed to urban innovation, including the National Portal (bahrain.bh) and mobile apps such as the Sehati app and MyGov app. She also highlighted the use of open data to create tailored eServices that address public needs.

Sami emphasized the importance of strategic and interactive communication, noting that continuous engagement with the public is vital. She discussed the Tawasul system, a two-way communication tool, to better understand public feedback and opinions.

The iGA also participated in the Smart Cities 2025 exhibition, where they showcased their latest services and applications, including MyGov, eKey 2.0, new features on bahrain.bh, and new services through the Benayat system. The public was invited to visit and learn more about these advancements.
