Morocco’s publishing industry is experiencing a significant transformation, driven by the growing influence of digital publishing, especially in literature, humanities, and social sciences. While challenges remain in production, distribution, and circulation, efforts by public institutions, universities, and cultural associations are revitalizing the sector.
These initiatives are contributing to the diversification of Morocco’s literary and academic output, with digital formats increasingly central to the dissemination of knowledge and cultural content. A report published in April 2025 by King Abdulaziz Al Saud highlights the state of publishing in Morocco for the 2023-2024 period.
The report reveals that approximately 8.97% of Morocco’s total publishing output now consists of digital publications. Notably, 6.3% of these digital publications are exclusive to digital formats, with a significant focus on academic and scholarly content, particularly in the humanities and social sciences.
