Egypt’s Minister of Communications Discusses Key Partnerships to Strengthen Tech Sector

Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, recently held high-level meetings in Dubai to discuss international partnerships aimed at boosting Egypt’s tech sector. During his visit, Talaat engaged with leading figures from Honor, Atos, Nokia, and Mashreq Group to explore opportunities for investment, manufacturing, and technological development in Egypt. Key discussions included Honor’s plans to manufacture mobile phones locally, Atos’s expansion in Egypt, and the country’s attractiveness as a tech hub due to its digital infrastructure, strategic location, and skilled workforce.

Talaat also met with officials from Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank to discuss contact center investments and with Mashreq Group to further enhance its operations in Egypt. The discussions reflect a growing trend of international investment in Egypt’s tech sector, with recent Chinese investments totaling approximately $9 billion by the end of fiscal year 2023/2024.

These partnerships, especially with China, are seen as crucial for Egypt’s digital transformation and economic growth. The country continues to strengthen its role as a global technology and communications hub through collaborations that enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
