RIYADH — The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has upgraded 11 international airports with cutting-edge technical services for the Makkah Route Initiative in 2025. The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Interior in partnership with several government entities, aims to streamline the travel process for pilgrims across seven countries.
These upgrades utilize the latest digital technologies powered by data and AI to ensure smooth and efficient travel for pilgrims from their home countries to Saudi airports, and back. SDAIA’s technical team oversees the systems and workstations at these airports, providing continuous support to address any malfunctions and maintain operational continuity.
Biometric registration stations and mobile workstations have been deployed at the airports to offer integrated services for pilgrims, ensuring swift processing. SDAIA has also implemented rigorous testing and integrations to optimize the registration of pilgrims’ biometric data, ensuring the highest levels of performance.
These efforts support Saudi Vision 2030’s Pilgrim Experience Program, aligning with the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to providing seamless, comfortable travel for pilgrims while enhancing the Hajj experience through the integration of AI and digital technologies.
