VEON and QazCode Launch AI Tutor to Enhance Kazakh Language Learning

VEON has introduced “AI Tutor,” an AI-powered learning assistant developed through a collaboration between Beeline Kazakhstan and QazCode. Designed to support both children and adults in learning the Kazakh language, AI Tutor is embedded in Beeline Kazakhstan’s super-app, Janymda, which reaches 4.9 million monthly active users as of April 2025.

AI Tutor leverages KazLLM, a locally developed Kazakh-language large language model created by Beeline Kazakhstan, QazCode, Nazarbayev University’s Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence, and Astana Hub, coordinated by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development. Launched in December 2024, KazLLM forms the foundation of AI Tutor’s six gamified learning modules, including Make a Sentence, Word Game, Find a Mistake, Continue a Story, Fill in the Blank, and Text Questions, all guided by an intuitive virtual assistant.

While initially focused on Kazakh language learning, AI Tutor’s capabilities are planned to expand into other educational disciplines. This initiative reflects VEON’s commitment to digital inclusion and educational access across Kazakhstan.

QazCode builds on its expertise in AI-driven products, having previously developed Kaz-RoBERTA-conversational, the first Kazakh-language LLM with 2 billion parameters, which enhances digital customer experiences. The company collaborates with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and GSMA Foundry to address the AI language gap for low-resource languages globally.
