Bahrain Wins First Place in Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Finals

The Kingdom of Bahrain has triumphed at the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Finals held in Shenzhen, China, with a joint team from Bahrain Polytechnic and the University of Bahrain securing first place in the Network Track. The team outperformed 40 teams from six regions, showcasing Bahrain’s growing leadership in nurturing ICT talent.

The competition attracted participants from countries including Iraq, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan across various tracks such as Network, Cloud, Computing, and Innovation.

Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, praised the achievement as a testament to the institution’s practical learning approach and the high caliber of its students, Mohammed AlKoofi and Sara Jawad. He emphasized the Polytechnic’s commitment to equipping youth with skills to lead in the digital era through strong industry partnerships, including with Huawei.

Huawei Bahrain CEO Harry Yu congratulated the students, reaffirming Huawei’s dedication to fostering local ICT talent via collaborations with educational institutions. The competition aligns with Huawei’s Intelligent World 2030 vision, encouraging mastery of advanced technologies like cloud computing, big data, and AI to solve real-world challenges.

This victory underscores Bahrain Polytechnic’s mission to empower students as innovators and future leaders in the technology sector.
