Orange Egypt Officially Launches 5G Services to Meet Growing Demand for High-Speed Internet

Orange Egypt has officially launched its 5G services following the completion of all technical and operational preparations, marking a major milestone in Egypt’s digital communications landscape. The initial rollout covers key high-traffic areas across all governorates, with plans for gradual nationwide expansion in partnership with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), ensuring adherence to international quality standards.

Orange’s 5G technology offers significantly faster upload and download speeds than 4G, along with greater capacity to support more users and devices without sacrificing performance. This upgrade enhances everyday internet experiences at home and in workplaces reliant on robust connectivity for multitasking and seamless digital operations.

The launch aligns with Egypt’s rapidly growing demand for high-speed internet driven by digital learning, remote work, gaming, streaming, and real-time communication. 5G is positioned as a critical enabler for modern digital lifestyles, supporting ultra-HD video calls, immersive gaming, social media streaming, and advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Smart Cities.

Dr. Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Orange Egypt, emphasized that the 5G launch represents a pivotal step in Egypt’s digital evolution and reinforces Orange Egypt’s commitment to delivering world-class telecom services. He highlighted that ongoing network investments aim to position Egypt as a leading regional hub for advanced technology and to fuel growth across vital economic sectors.

Orange Egypt received a 15-year license to operate 5G services in October 2024, following a preliminary agreement signed earlier that year. This long-term license underscores the company’s dedication to supporting Egypt’s technological progress and digital infrastructure development.

The 5G launch forms a cornerstone of Orange Egypt’s strategic vision to lead both local and regional telecommunications markets by providing advanced digital solutions that meet evolving customer needs and contribute to building a connected, sustainable digital future.
