AMMAN — On Sunday, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to developing Jordan’s national industry and enhancing its competitiveness in both local and export markets. His remarks came during a ceremony hosted by the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) celebrating the first 100 companies to join the “Made in Jordan” programme, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Minister Qudah emphasized the government’s ongoing coordination with the industrial sector to identify and resolve challenges facing national industries through continuous follow-up and timely measures. He expressed optimism about the export potential across various sectors, attributing it to the “high quality” of Jordanian industrial products.
Fathi Jaghbir, Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, described the “Made in Jordan” programme as a “prominent” national initiative supported by multiple ministries, official bodies, and the private sector. He highlighted the effective public-private partnerships that have helped address numerous issues within the industrial landscape.
Jaghbir further noted that industrial exports accounted for 94 percent of Jordan’s total national exports and represented 62 percent of investments benefiting from the Investment Environment Law by the end of the previous year.
Mohammed Shair, Head of the “Made in Jordan” Programme, underscored the significance of incentives offered by ministries and institutions to Jordanian industrial companies. He outlined the programme’s new strategy aimed at providing “high-quality” national products at “reasonable” prices, with a focus on building consumer trust and enhancing credibility in both domestic and international markets.
Shair explained that quality standards for displaying the “Made in Jordan” logo on products are based on Jordanian and international quality certifications held by industrial companies. The programme, managed by the ACI, encourages national manufacturers to actively adopt the logo on their products by fulfilling the necessary quality requirements.
Additionally, the programme collaborates with government entities to offer procedural incentives, including streamlining processes and granting expedited transaction services to companies certified under the programme, in coordination with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply.
