August 1, 2024: Orange Jordan unveiled its new Digital Self-Registration Service, utilizing the “Electronic Know Your Customer” (eKYC) system, at a press conference. This innovative service, introduced for the first time in Jordan, aims to revolutionize the customer experience in the telecom sector.
The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRC), along with members of Orange Jordan’s Executive Committee and media representatives.
Orange Jordan highlighted the features of the new service, emphasizing the company’s collaboration with MoDEE and TRC to support the national digital transformation vision. The service allows customers to electronically subscribe and authenticate prepaid mobile lines using approved identity documents or through the “SANAD” application, the official gateway to digital government services in Jordan. This process enables subscribers to verify their identity and activate services remotely, without visiting physical stores.
The Digital Self-Registration service enhances the offerings of the “jood” application, which Orange launched two years ago to improve the digital customer experience. Through the app, users can subscribe to prepaid jood lines, verify their identity electronically, select a number, obtain an e-SIM, and activate the line, making the app a comprehensive digital solution.
Philippe Mansour, CEO of Orange Jordan, stated that this initiative reinforces the company’s role as a responsible digital leader. He noted that the service stems from a deep understanding of customer needs and the Jordanian market, aligning with Orange Jordan’s goal to excel in the digital landscape. The service promises speed, efficiency, and ease of use, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation.
Mansour added that the eKYC system enhances customer services by preventing electronic fraud and theft through secure identity verification. This development represents the rapid technological advancements in the industry and Orange’s dedication to staying at the forefront of these changes.
