Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, met with Meta’s delegation led by Sarim Aziz to discuss boosting Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and AI adoption. Meta showcased advancements including LLaMA open-source models, generative AI tools, and Urdu-language AI models.
Meta expressed its commitment to building local AI capacity and expanding technical training in Pakistan. Khawaja emphasized the government’s dedication to a digital Pakistan, highlighting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s weekly meetings focused on transitioning to a cashless economy and prioritizing youth digital skills.
She stressed AI’s foundational role in Pakistan’s development and called public-private partnerships vital to unlocking future potential. Both parties agreed to deepen collaboration on digital skills, AI in governance, and innovation to fast-track Pakistan’s digital transformation.
