Wipro Limited, a global leader in AI-powered technology services and consulting, has announced a multi-year strategic contract with Saudi Electric Company – National Grid SA. The engagement involves implementing a Smart Meter Data Management (MDM) system to modernize the transmission network’s meter data platform, boost operational efficiency, and enhance risk management.
Wipro will design, develop, implement, and maintain the infrastructure and smart applications of the new MDM system. By enabling continuous real-time monitoring of power flow, voltage, and equipment data, the system will improve grid stability and facilitate intelligent forecasting and reporting. These enhancements will allow National Grid SA to optimize grid planning, accelerate fault detection, support proactive maintenance, and gain better visibility into energy usage patterns.
The upgraded platform is expected to optimize power dispatch, reduce operational costs, and minimize outages, ultimately enhancing end-user experience.
Vinay Firake, Wipro’s CEO for Asia Pacific, India, Middle East & Africa (APMEA), expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Wipro’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. He emphasized that the company’s energy sector expertise and advanced technology solutions will play a vital role in the Kingdom’s innovation and digital transformation journey.
