LINX and center3 Upgrade Riyadh Internet Exchange with 400GE Connectivity

The London Internet Exchange (LINX) has announced a successful upgrade of the interconnection hub it operates in Saudi Arabia for center3, a subsidiary of STC Group. The enhancements expand the availability of 100GE ports to meet rising customer demand and introduce 400GE connectivity services, setting a new standard for high-capacity interconnection in the Kingdom.

Located at the Remal facility (RDC102) in Riyadh, the Internet Exchange Point (IXP) has quickly become a critical pillar of Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure since its 2024 launch. The new upgrades are designed to serve the growing needs of global networks, hyperscalers, content providers, and enterprises requiring scalable, low-latency interconnection.

“Demand for high-speed, resilient connectivity in the Kingdom continues to grow, and these upgrades ensure that the Riyadh IXP remains at the forefront of regional interconnection,” said Halil Kama, Director for the Middle East at LINX. “By enabling 400GE capabilities and expanding 100GE availability, we’re empowering networks to scale efficiently and deliver superior performance to end users.”

The move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which places digital transformation at the core of national development — spanning smart cities, AI-driven healthcare, fintech, and cloud services.

Center3’s Broader Expansion
As LINX’s strategic partner in the Middle East, center3 is rapidly expanding its data centre footprint, targeting 1GW of total capacity by 2030. With $3 billion already invested and an additional $10 billion planned, the company is building a carrier-neutral ecosystem offering unmatched scalability, sustainability, and reliability for enterprises, hyperscalers, and government operations.

The latest Riyadh upgrades build on the strong partnership between LINX and center3, which began with the launch of the Jeddah IXP in 2019. Together, they continue to reshape the Kingdom’s interconnection landscape, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a rising global digital hub.
