Bangladesh’s education technology (EdTech) sector is undergoing rapid transformation, expanding far beyond online classes to include exam prep, career readiness, and immersive digital learning. With internet access spreading across the country, learners in both rural and urban areas are increasingly turning to digital platforms to enhance their skills and future prospects.
EdTech startups began emerging over a decade ago, but the COVID-19 pandemic marked a watershed moment as schools moved to cloud platforms and local companies filled the gap. Today, Bangladesh has 416 active EdTech startups, with leaders like 10 Minute School and Shikho securing international investment, while Ostad gained local funding through Shark Tank Bangladesh.
Most platforms target SSC, HSC, and university admission seekers, with Apar’s Classroom alone serving more than 900,000 students. Traditional players such as Utkorsho (a unit of Udvash) have also digitized offerings. Meanwhile, with 2.66 million unemployed Bangladeshis (BBS, Q3 2025), EdTech is shifting focus toward job preparation and skills training. Platforms like Live MCQ serve government job aspirants, while Upskill, BYLCx, Muktopaath, Bohubrihi, CoderTrust, and Ghoori Learning cater to professionals entering the digital workforce.
Virtual reality is beginning to reshape classrooms. Nerdiz has launched the country’s first private VR learning corner, aiming to expand experiential education despite infrastructure and training hurdles. The rise of AI-driven tools—such as Ostad’s Mocku, an AI mock interview platform—mirrors global trends like Khan Academy’s Khanmigo.
Niche players are also thriving: Science Bee specializes in science learning, Mojaru, Konnect, and CholPori focus on children’s education, Alokito Teachers trains educators in digital methods, and Sohopathi connects teachers and students through network insights. International platforms like Duolingo, Coursera, and Udemy further complement local solutions.
From exam prep apps to VR classrooms and AI tutors, Bangladesh’s EdTech industry is diversifying at an unprecedented pace. It is creating opportunities not only for students but also for job seekers, professionals, and educators—reshaping the country’s education and employment landscape.
