Marrakech – On September 26, Attijari Payment, Visa, and Moroccan fintech Woliz announced a strategic partnership in Casablanca aimed at driving the digital transformation of payments in Morocco, with a special focus on the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
The collaboration integrates Attijari Payment’s merchant acceptance solutions into Woliz’s platform, offering simple, secure, and efficient digital payment options for merchants. Backed by Visa’s global expertise in payment technologies and financial education, the initiative seeks to modernize the daily operations of FMCG merchants and advance financial inclusion nationwide.
Fahd Bettache, CEO of Attijari Payment, said the agreement underscores their commitment to supporting merchants in transitioning to modern, inclusive payment systems. Sami Romdhane, Visa Morocco’s General Manager, emphasized the importance of combining global experience with local agility to deliver reliable and tailored solutions that help merchants thrive in a digital-first economy.
Woliz founder Kamal El Hardouzi highlighted customer expectations for speed and simplicity, describing the vision of an ecosystem that unites merchants, FMCG stakeholders, and financial institutions to build sustainable financial inclusion.
The partnership also marks the next step in Attijari Payment’s momentum following its July launch of a merchant acquisition service, made possible by its March 13 approval from Bank Al-Maghrib as a licensed payment institution. The company already provides a wide array of solutions, from electronic payment terminals to online payment platforms.
By combining the agility of a local fintech, the technological strength of a global leader, and the proven expertise of a major payments player, the partnership is set to accelerate Morocco’s digital economy while boosting merchant competitiveness in the FMCG sector.
