The Iraqi Communications and Media Commission (CMC) has announced major upgrades to the country’s telecommunications network in preparation for the Arbaeen pilgrimage. These enhancements aim to ensure reliable communication services and comprehensive network coverage during the mass event.
The CMC has deployed 500 technical teams across Iraq to bolster communication services, along with activating 112 mobile stations (COWs) and installing 219 fixed towers, bringing the total to 4,390 towers and 27,652 permanent cells. Additionally, 1,803 towers have been developed and expanded, with 180 new towers added, and 2,538 towers upgraded with modern technologies, including the 2600 MHz band in 429 towers.
To monitor and maintain wireless signal stability during the pilgrimage, the CMC has deployed five advanced vehicles supported by 13 specialized teams. These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to provide optimal communication services for the millions of pilgrims expected to attend the Arbaeen pilgrimage from both Iraq and abroad.
