SLT-MOBITEL has achieved a major breakthrough in Sri Lanka’s connectivity landscape, recording 5G speeds above 10Gbps on its 5G Standalone (SA) ready network under TRCSL trial authorization. The demonstration used advanced 5G technologies including Massive MIMO, 5-component carrier aggregation in C-band, and mmWave spectrum — setting a new national performance benchmark.
The operator has also expanded its 5G trial footprint to 18 districts, preparing for broad commercial launch and reinforcing its role as the National ICT Solutions Provider driving digital transformation. SLT-MOBITEL noted that next-generation connectivity will support enhanced services across healthcare, education, enterprise operations, and daily digital lifestyles.
This latest achievement builds on a track record of firsts: in 2019, the company conducted South Asia’s first smartphone-based 5G trial, and later showcased both SA and NSA hybrid deployment in Sri Lanka to advance 5G readiness.
