UAE telecom operator du has entered a three-year strategic partnership with Huawei following the successful deployment of the world’s first 25Gbps E-Band microwave link as part of its 5G-Advanced network rollout. The collaboration goes beyond procurement, establishing a joint innovation framework to address rising data transmission demands and accelerate the expansion of high-capacity 5G-Advanced connectivity across the UAE.
As a pioneer in commercial 5G-Advanced deployment, du faces capacity challenges in areas where fibre infrastructure is limited. Legacy microwave links lack the bandwidth required to support next-generation services. The newly deployed 25Gbps E-Band solution addresses this gap, delivering fibre-equivalent capacity with greater deployment flexibility and speed.
The solution leverages Huawei’s latest wireless technologies, including the industry’s only 2T2R E-Band device capable of delivering up to 25Gbps in a single module with transmit power of up to 26 dBm. Combined with a two-dimension intelligent beam tracking antenna, the system mitigates signal degradation caused by pole movement, ensuring stable received signal levels and high link reliability. The platform also supports multiple 25GE interfaces, enabling peak site capacity for 5G-Advanced and providing a scalable path toward future 6G requirements aligned with the UAE’s 2030 vision.
Deployed at a live 5G-Advanced site in Al Warqa, Dubai, the 25Gbps E-Band link offers a cost-efficient alternative to fibre, with shorter deployment cycles and adaptability across dense urban and remote environments. du said the technology will help bridge connectivity gaps nationwide while maintaining high performance and reliability.
Huawei said large-capacity E-Band innovation is a key direction for future microwave development, enabling operators to build simplified, high-bandwidth, and easy-to-deploy networks that support evolving business and technology needs.
