MoCI Hosts GCC Workshops to Accelerate Smart Factory Transformation

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in collaboration with Qatar Development Bank, the Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (GOIC), and the GCC General Secretariat, has organised the “Gulf Workshops on Digital Transformation of Factories” in Doha, bringing together government officials and industrial leaders from across GCC member states.

The two-day programme focused on strengthening factory readiness for Industry 4.0 technologies, with the goal of improving productivity, product quality, and global competitiveness. The workshops form part of broader regional efforts to establish the Gulf Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Qatar, envisioned as a unified platform for advancing digital manufacturing and facilitating knowledge exchange across the Gulf.

Participants explored Qatar’s experience in supporting SMEs through their transition toward smart manufacturing, while promoting regional industrial cooperation and policy alignment. The agenda included expert sessions on digital leadership, operational excellence, and agile transformation methodologies, as well as roundtable discussions involving key stakeholders from finance, industry, and standardisation bodies.

GCC delegations also visited factories in the Small and Medium Industries Zone to observe real-world applications of advanced technologies. Strategic sessions examined the roadmap for the Gulf Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, addressing ecosystem development, data governance, regulatory coordination, and the role of technical and consultancy service providers.

The workshops concluded by highlighting digital transformation as a critical driver of industrial resilience, competitiveness, and sustainable growth across GCC economies.
