Government Communications Forum Concludes in Doha

The third edition of the Government Communications Forum concluded in Doha after two days of panels and specialised workshops, reinforcing its role as a national platform for knowledge exchange, institutional coordination, and strategic communications.

Organised by the Government Communications Office (GCO), the forum brought together more than 800 ministers, undersecretaries, senior officials, decision-makers, and communications leaders, alongside experts from global digital and media companies. Discussions explored communications as a strategic tool for influence, trust, and national narrative-building in a rapidly evolving environment.

HE Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani, Director of the GCO, said the forum reflects an ongoing effort to strengthen Qatar’s government communications ecosystem and enhance coordination across government, semi-government entities, and international partners. He noted that modern government communications now play a strategic role in building awareness, strengthening trust, and engaging society in support of Qatar National Vision 2030.

International partners including Dow Jones, Meta, Google, Snap, and Amazon Ads participated, alongside an exhibition showcasing initiatives from government entities such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Communications Regulatory Authority, and Qatar Rail. The GCO also highlighted its own achievements in strengthening institutional communications over the past year.

The forum featured 11 panel discussions examining the role of communications in strengthening national narratives, supporting major initiatives, and improving cohesion across government entities. Sessions focused on public engagement, institutional readiness, transparency, digital storytelling, and the role of sport and culture in reinforcing national identity. The growing leadership of women in communications was also highlighted.

More than 35 specialised workshops covered artificial intelligence, digital strategy, creative content, media monitoring, production, writing, and crisis communications. Tourism was spotlighted as a key sector where strategic communications can drive impact through creative campaigns, data-driven insights, and effective use of digital platforms.

Several entities and individuals were recognised for advancing the government communications ecosystem in 2025, with awards for Media Excellence, Best Digital Campaign, Innovation in Media Content, and the region’s first Snap Award for platform engagement.

The forum continues to strengthen coordination across government entities, build national capacity, and elevate Qatar’s communications sector in line with the Third National Development Strategy.
