FBA Hosts Seminar on the Impact of Telecommunication on Bangladesh’s Economy

The Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), organised a seminar titled “Impact of Telecommunication in Bangladesh Economy” on December 29, 2025, at the university’s media studio. Accounting major students were the primary participants.

The session featured Mohammed Kayum Sarker, General Manager and Head of Indirect Taxes at Grameenphone Ltd, as the resource person. With over 19 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Mr. Sarker shared practical insights into telecom taxation policies and their contribution to Bangladesh’s GDP growth. He also addressed common misconceptions surrounding pricing structures and tax practices within the sector.

Professor Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean (In-Charge) of the Faculty of Business Administration, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Kamrul Hasan, Professor and Head of the Department of Accounting, concluded the event with a vote of thanks and presented a certificate to the speaker. Dr. Md. Sazzadur Rahman Khan (FCMA), Associate Professor, Department of Accounting, presented a token of appreciation.

The seminar was organised by Ms. Sanjida Akhtar CA (Singapore), ASA (CPA Australia), Lecturer in the Department of Accounting. Faculty members from the Department of Accounting and FBA were also in attendance and actively contributed through discussion and intellectual exchange with the speaker.
