Shura Council member highlights Bahrain’s support for Arab digital economy

Cairo, Jan. 22 (BNA): Dr. Ibtisam Mohamed Saleh Al Dallal, a member of the Shura Council’s Service Committee and the Arab Parliament’s Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain places strong emphasis on advancing the Arab digital economy as a cornerstone for economic integration among Arab states.

She said strengthening digital economy pathways is essential for keeping pace with rapid global economic shifts, enhancing the efficiency of Arab economies, and enabling them to meet sustainable development goals.

Dr. Al Dallal noted that digital economy development opens new avenues for growth and stimulates intra-Arab trade by advancing digital infrastructure and expanding modern financial and commercial services in line with global technology and innovation trends.

Her remarks were delivered during a meeting of the Arab Parliament’s Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, which reviewed priority files for the upcoming phase. These included mechanisms to support the Palestinian economy, preparations for a conference on the blue economy, and parliamentary initiatives related to artificial intelligence and Arab joint action organisations.

She highlighted that Bahrain’s participation reflects the Shura Council’s commitment to supporting key economic priorities, strengthening parliamentary cooperation, and shaping legislative frameworks that promote Arab digital transformation, economic integration, and sustainable development across the region.
