TLcom Capital, one of Africa’s largest venture capital firms, has announced the 6th edition of the Africa Tech Female Founder Summit, set to take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya. The event, Africa’s largest gathering of female tech entrepreneurs, is now accepting applications for participants.
Themed “Transformative Leadership: Redefining Success in Tech,” the Summit aims to unite, inspire, and empower female founders across the continent. It offers a platform for learning, collaboration, and establishing support networks, while emphasizing the role of transformative leadership and strategic partnerships in scaling tech businesses.
This year’s Summit will feature a panel discussion on “Scaling and Sustaining Growth” led by female founders Nelly Chatue-Diop (Ejara), Nneile Nkholise (Thola), Rasha Rady (Chefaa), and Sneha Mehta (Uncover). Workshops and mentoring sessions on topics such as “Budgeting and KPI Design” by Daisy Liech (TLcom) and “Growth Strategies and Scaling Successfully” by Wandia Gichuru (Vivo) will also be offered. Additionally, pre-selected startups will have the opportunity to pitch their companies to top investors like Yemi Keri (Rising Tide Africa) and Joyce-Anne Wainai (Chui Ventures).
Omobola Johnson, Senior Partner at TLcom Capital, highlighted the challenging landscape for tech founders, especially women, stating, “As capital remains scarce, founders must navigate a new ecosystem with demands for profitability and scale. This Summit will explore what it takes for female founders to succeed in this environment and rise as industry leaders.”
Since its inception, the Africa Tech Female Founder Summit has attracted over 500 African women in tech, with previous editions featuring high-profile speakers such as Julia Collins, the first Black woman to build a unicorn, and Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay and current US Ambassador to Kenya.
