Kuwait to Launch Advanced 5G Services by End of 2024

The Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has announced that telecom companies in Kuwait are preparing to launch advanced fifth-generation (5G) internet services by the end of 2024. The move aligns with CITRA’s commitment to regulating and overseeing the telecommunications sector while protecting the interests of users and service providers.

Telecommunications companies are currently equipping their networks to support 5G technology, with the new services expected to go live within the next three months following approval from CITRA. As per a report by Al-Anba, mobile operators can apply for a 5G license by paying $1 million (305,410 KWD), with fees due within six months of issuance.

The 5G rollout will involve the allocation of frequency channels in the 2600 MHz and 2300 MHz bands, utilizing a dual access system. Telecom companies must meet specific terms and conditions, and pay annual fees to operate within these frequency channels.
