Egypt officially bans Roblox

Egypt’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation has ordered the blocking of the Roblox platform, with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) tasked with implementing the technical ban in coordination with the Ministry of Communications.

Deputy head of the council, Essam Al-Amir, said the decision follows Senate discussions on the risks of children’s exposure to inappropriate online content, alongside moves to block other websites accused of promoting content seen as conflicting with Egyptian social values.

During the Senate session, officials cited concerns about the impact of internet platforms, social media, and gaming applications on young users, highlighting the need to ensure a safer digital environment for children.

Authorities have begun coordinating with NTRA to enforce the decision as part of broader regulatory measures aimed at protecting youth and aligning digital content with societal and educational standards.
