HUTCH Sri Lanka has introduced its new Signature retail outlets, positioning sustainability at the core of its retail strategy and setting a new benchmark for environmentally conscious telecom retail in the country. The initiative marks one of the first instances in Sri Lanka where sustainability principles have been integrated holistically into retail design and operations.
The operator has opened its first two outlets under the new concept, including a Signature+ outlet in Colombo Fort, serving one of the country’s largest business districts, and a Signature outlet in Negombo. Additional outlets are expected to follow as part of a broader rollout aimed at redefining customer engagement through sustainable retail environments.
The Signature outlets incorporate sustainable material sourcing, renewable energy usage through wind and solar power, and circular economy practices across their production and operational lifecycle. The locations also include e-waste collection points, encouraging responsible disposal of electronic devices while promoting environmental awareness among customers. Beyond serving as retail and service centres, the outlets are designed to function as educational spaces where visitors can engage with sustainability-focused initiatives.
The project aligns with the sustainability commitments of HUTCH’s parent company, CK Hutchison Holdings, and supports broader environmental objectives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The initiative reflects a growing trend among telecom operators to integrate environmental responsibility into customer-facing infrastructure while enhancing overall customer experience.
Industry observers note that HUTCH’s approach demonstrates how retail innovation can be combined with sustainability and social responsibility, creating long-term value while reinforcing brand positioning in an increasingly environmentally conscious market.
