Omantel profits rise strongly in 2025

MUSCAT – 19 February 2026: Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) reported record unaudited profits for 2025, driven by stronger domestic performance and higher earnings from its Kuwaiti subsidiary stake.

In a disclosure to the Muscat Securities Market (MSX), Omantel said net profit surged 88% year-on-year to OMR371 million ($974 million).

The growth was supported by improved turnover across domestic operations, including cloud hosting services and rising customer subscriptions. Income from Zain Group, in which Omantel holds a 21% stake, also contributed significantly to the bottom line.

Zain Group’s profit more than doubled in 2025 to reach $777 million, marking a 13-year high, further boosting Omantel’s consolidated performance.

Omantel, founded in 1987, remains Oman’s largest telecommunications provider by market share. It competes with Qatar’s Ooredoo, Vodafone and domestic operator Awasr, but has retained its leadership position as the former incumbent operator.

The company offers a broad portfolio of fixed-line, internet, mobile and wholesale communications services, along with data centre and software solutions. It is majority-owned by the Oman Investment Authority, with just under half of its shares listed as free float on the Muscat Securities Market.

Ahead of the results announcement, Omantel’s stock closed at OMR1.21, up 16% year-to-date.
