Network International has announced the successful enablement of Apple Pay acceptance in Egypt by powering card tokenisation for Apple smartphones across four major Egyptian banks, marking a new milestone in the country’s digital payments transformation.
The rollout forms part of the third wave of tokenisation licences granted by the Central Bank of Egypt to selected banks, supporting the continued expansion of secure mobile payment services across the country.
By supporting all four bank launches within the same wave, Network International demonstrated the scalability and reliability of its processing platform, as well as its capability to implement complex multi-bank digital payment programmes while maintaining strong security and operational resilience.
Dr. Reda Helal, Group Managing Director – Processing, Africa and Co-Head Group Processing at Network International, said the initiative reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to Egypt’s digital economy and its ability to deliver large-scale implementations through its local teams.
He noted that the company has operated in Egypt for more than two decades and that the successful rollout highlights the robustness of its technology infrastructure and the expertise of its regional operations.
The development also aligns with Network International’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence across the Middle East and Africa. In 2023, the company announced an investment of EGP 1 billion to expand its operations in Egypt, from where it supports more than 160 banks across Africa and over 65 banks in the Middle East.
