Morocco’s “AI Made in Morocco” Strategy: A 100 Billion Dirham Vision

Morocco is positioning artificial intelligence as the cornerstone of its national development through the “Maroc IA 2030” roadmap and the “AI Made in Morocco” initiative. Unveiled by Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, this strategy aims to move the country from a consumer of technology to a sovereign producer, targeting a 100 billion dirham ($10 billion) contribution to GDP by 2030.

Central to this vision is the creation of 50,000 specialized jobs in fields like machine learning and robotics, and the training of 200,000 skilled graduates. By fostering a domestic ecosystem, Morocco seeks to ensure technological sovereignty while acting as a “third voice” in global AI governance—balancing ethical standards with the specific needs of the Global South and the African continent.
